The first trimester science portfolio and unit test on Electricity & Magnetism were both handed back to students today. Mrs. Higgins and I went over the portfolio and the test with all students today. If students have a specific question, they should come and ask one of us. **Please save this notebook and test, because the 5th grade science STAR test covers both 4th & 5th grade content. The portfolio (graded by Mrs. Higgins) was graded on several criteria, which students were informed about beforehand. Each student has a grading sheet with their overall grade, as well as a check, minus, or plus, on each criteria. The test (graded by Ms. Che) is in two parts. Part 1, on white paper, is a printout of the quiz that students did on StarQuiz, a computer program. Part 2, on gold paper, are two essay questions that students did. The score from both parts of the test were combined to get an overall score, which was then converted to a rubric score. |

Wow-- one third of the school year is already over! Last Friday ended the first trimester. All work that students have done so far will be counted towards their first report card, which will be handed out in school on Friday, 12/5. This is a good time to review students' goals as discussed in October, and to set some more goals for the rest of the year. I want everyone to have a successful 4th grade year! |
